Last night I attended the Metropolitan Home and Showtime showhouse preview party in Gramercy Park. Here are my photos. Enjoy. - Shane
Designer Laura Kirar of TRU Design and LKDL, in the living room she created for Showtime’s series The Tudors. Laura’s keen sense for design can be seen in the products she has developed for Decorati partners Boyd Lighting, Dennis Miller, and McGuire.
The custom light fixtures in Laura’s living room design captured the contrasting themes of traditional and contemporary - a challenge she masters in all her work.
Decorati partner and design legend Dakota Jackson and award-winning designer Jamie Drake. Jamie’s design of a writer’s study featured a nod to the concept of writer’s block with an unusual floor-to-ceiling sculpture of books - you cannot remove any of them to view the ideas inside.
The fabulous Debra Burns, SVP Luxury Design Group at Hachette Filipacchi, designer Amy Lau (see our recent feature story on Amy Lau), and designer Kirsten Brant.
Amy Lau created this stunning, hand-made stemware light fixture and hung it from a white, reflective ceiling. The white background provided light and humor to the serial killer theme.
Decorati partner Jim Zivic designed the hallways with a concept that may appear irreverent, but in fact is a deliberate tribute to the Showtime shows and all the individuals who participate in their creation. Jim is standing next to one of his anthracite (coal) tables.
Left to right: Pointclickhome.com Editor Anne Collins is spearheading one of the key destinations for interior design online. Tori Golub, a longtime favorite designer of mine (who was supposed to be in my book, but whose career was on a rocket ship so she did not even have time to submit the photos!), designed an intriguing bedroom complete with an “eye-catching” video -you have to see it. Designer and Decorati partner Vicente Wolf mixed relaxing textiles and soft shapes with one of his trademark large mirrors (see one here). New Decorati manufacturer partner, creator of thedevinelife.blogspot.com, and guest panelist at our upcoming D&D Building Fall market event at Jerry Pair Showroom, Michael Devine.
