Design Miami/ Vernissage Giveaway

Open to the public from December 3-8, 2008 in the Miami Design District, Design Miami/ was co-founded by interior designer Amy Lau and Ambra Medda.  Now in its third year, it is a high-end design fair that runs parallel to Art Basel: Miami Beach in December and Art Basel in Switzerland in June, and features galleries, exhibitions and discussion sessions with talented designers.  The list of galleries participating this year includes such notables as NY-based Moss Gallery and François Laffanour’s Paris-based Galerie Downtown. 

A highlight of Design Miami/ is the Annual Designer of the Year award which is given to an “established designer or collective whose advanced body of work demonstrates quality, innovation and influence.”  This year’s award goes to the well-deserving duo of Fernando & Humberto Campana, Brazilian brothers who are known for their creative use of common, everyday materials like discarded wood and wire.  Check out some of their most innovative works:
