It finally feels like spring in most parts of the country. In the interior design world, spring signals the start of the Showcase House season. Kips Bay just opened last week with a gala in NYC, and the San Francisco Showcase opens to the public on April 25. Built in 1910 for $42,500, this year’s home at 2830 Pacific Avenue has a rich history. Among other things, it featured one of the first residential Otis elevators in SF and a driveway big enough for up to 10 cars (a true luxury in the city).

Had the opportunity of checking the SF Decorator Showcase this weekend and everyone did amazing and inspiring jobs.
I was particularly impressed by the top floor of the house. You can tell that floor was not original to the house but the designers were able to do an amazing/cohesive job. Starting with Heather Hilliard, who took advantage of a spectacular view and designed a room with colors that are not competing with the view but complementing it. And the combination of classic pieces and modern/custom seating is genius. The bathroom by Nahemow Rivera is breathtakingly beautiful – that silver travertine is exquisite and matches the rest of the floor palette incredibly. And last but not least, the Roof Garden by Suzman & Cole is relaxing and the final touch to a great floor!
Congratulations to all designers in a fantastic design and flawless execution.
Thanks for posting these profiles as a reference to supplement the program for this year’s house.
I have my eye on many of this year’s designers, and agree with the comment above that the penthouse suite truly took advantage of a complementary color scheme. Beyond that, the proportions were classic yet inviting. I can really imagine entertaining in that room!
So many great spaces in this house – congrats to all designers! I hope to work with some of you during my next project.
