KBIS Couture: Fresh Trends from the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show

Decorati is excited to introduce you to our new Guest Blogger Susan Serra, author of The Kitchen Designer blog. Today Susan takes us on a tour of the KBIS (Kitchen and Bath Industry Show), featuring cutting edge products and avant-garde designs.

I can tell you this: Kitchen and bath couture is alive and well at the recent Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in Atlanta. Regardless of current economic conditions (which now appear to be on the upswing) and regardless of all the talk of “reigning in”, there are new luxuries that I found at the show and specially selected for Decorati to tempt, excite, and nourish the spirit. This year did not disappoint; in fact, it dazzled!

Fixtures and faucetry present soft, sculptural shapes, a soft modern point of view. Warm, gold shades, often brushed, are seen in sinks, faucets, hardware and more, a fresh take on metals. But gold finishes are not the only story…mixing metal finishes is HOT, as are the widest selection of warm, charcoal, and black metal finishes that I’ve ever seen. Clearly, the focus in an interior is to toss out the rules and blend finishes as it suits.

Technology, too, shines brightly as seen in the incredible Seura TV vanishing mirror, winner of the KBIS Gold Award.

Mixing technology and gorgeous-ness is seen in the Grace hood by Elica, a stylish and functional design statement for cooktop ventilation.

Kohler’s workhorse, Iron/Occasions offers an island to work around with the utmost in flexibility.

These fantastic products only elevate our choices in the two most important rooms in the home, the kitchen and bath. See you soon!

Yes, the sink is very unique! As mentioned above, the sink is actually by Kohler. You can find more information about it here http://www.us.kohler.com/onlinecatalog/newproducts_detail.jsp?section=1&prod=Iron%20Occasions%20Island%20Sink-KBIS%202009.
