Today Decorati Guest Blogger Susan Serra, author of The Kitchen Designer blog, discusses one of the “hottest” new kitchen materials.
Kitchen countertops are sort of the icing on the cake in a kitchen design! And, who doesn’t love shopping for countertops, with so many materials, textures, and colors in the marketplace? The countertop one selects, however, needs to fulfill a plethora of criteria…great looks, endurance, performance, and durability over the long term.
.
One of my very favorite countertops that fulfill all of these conditions is Pyrolave. Pyrolave is an extraordinary material, a consistent and dense stone that withstands endless kitchen countertop adventures for years on end. It’s smooth, has a wonderful sheen, and an even more wonderful soft crackle texture. I love Pyrolave because, unlike other more patterned countertop materials, it’s consistent color serves both as a foundation for the kitchen as well as a highlight! As a designer, I like to walk into a kitchen and feel the aura of a kitchen as a whole, as opposed to immediately responding to specific elements. Pyrolave’s consistent texture allows the material to play a role as part of an ensemble…showcasing just the right effect.
.

Colors! Pyrolave offers endless (and yes, even custom) colors. Have a paint, tile, other color sample? They will get your color right. This is a material for the long term. Pyrolave works with a kitchen designed in any theme or style. My clients universally adore it, and I know you will too!

Hi Susan,
).
Love Pyrolave (wow, it actually rhymes…
I’ve been using them for years and if it wasn’t for the price point, I would sell it every week – I even got one Pyrolave project on a national magazine cover – see it at http://www.kuche-cucina.com/kitchens_TRN1.htm.
Ciao,
Amir
It’s so difficult to choose among all that varient of countertops and their colors…
Kitchen remodeling is one of the most common remodeling projects, and consumers dedicate a great deal of time and money to make their rooms elegant and functional. As consumers opt for luxury and durability over plain and fragile, the new “want” in kitchen remodeling is natural stone countertops. When selecting a countertop, consumers look for strength, stain resistance, burn proof, long lasting, and elegance. These are many reasons why a natural stone countertop would be an attractive feature in a kitchen. According to the National Association Home Builders (nahb.org), granite or natural stone is the No. 1 choice for surfaces and countertops, representing about 31.2 percent of the countertop market.
Check out the company we have used in past called STONEUNLIMITED @ http://www.stoneunlimited.net
They carry every kind of natural stone option for Countertops and for flooring.
