The Perfect Color

By Scott Kravet

There is a lot of talk about the perfect color. How do you choose the perfect color? What do the experts say? As the head of product development for the Kravet and Lee Jofa brands, I’ve spent my career looking for the perfect color. We make choices every year and every season based on balance, sensory appeal and more. We rely on input from trend forecasters to tell us what they think will be the hottest colors for the upcoming year. We go to Maison & Objet, High Point Market, Proposte and others in search of new vendors and new colors and textures to bring to our customers.

After 27 years in the business, I’ve laid eyes on millions if not billions of colors, and I can confidently say there is no such thing as the perfect color. Choosing colors for your home is a deeply personal experience, one that is influenced by so many factors. In what part of the world do you live? In which time of year or season are you looking? What inspires you?

The choices are overwhelming. You can search the world and scour global trend reports and not reach a solution that works for your specific needs and taste level. Between Kravet and Lee Jofa, we offer our customers myriad fabric options in the hope that you will find that one color that makes you the happiest. The truth is, the perfect color is in the eye of the beholder.

‘Tis the core of interior design and decorating — the color enigma and passion. Beautiful presentation. Color reflects our individuality. I plan to recreate the color swatch picture as a work of art!

The MODERN COLORS fabric collection by Kravet is jaw-droppingly gorgeous, energizing and inspiring. This new collection is the flavor of the furnishings in the recently revived and expanded Kravet Showroom in San Diego. Lime greens, golds, purples, raspberries ,teals and blues pop against neutral textures.

Scott’s eye, expertise and talent must have played a part in not only the colors- but also the varying weaves and patterns of the fabric collection. We thank you, Scott !
